Maryanne the massage therapist . . .

Maryanne Daniel (Maryanne Torrellas) graduated from St. John’s University (NY) in 1980 with a degree in biology.  After raising a family, she enrolled in the CT Center for Massage Therapy, and has been a licensed massage therapist since 1994.  Maryanne’s massage therapy practice is based in Clinton, CT.  Highlights of her massage career include:

  • 1996 member of the Olympic Games Sports Massage Team
  • 1998 USA Track & Field Massage Therapist, Goodwill Games
  • 201 Emergency Massage Responder Team, Ground Zero WTC, NYC
  • 2002 USA Track & Field Massage Therapist, World Championships, Paris2005 USA Track & Field Massage Therapist, World Championships, Helsinki
  • 2007 named National Sports Massage Therapist of the Year
  • 2010 Medical staff for USA World Racewalking Team
  • 2011-2020 Medical Service Review Panel for US athletes

Maryanne the International-class athlete . . .

As an athlete in the sport of Racewalking, Maryanne held a World Record and 5 American records. She has represented the USA numerous times in International competitions, winning  six open National Championships and a Bronze medal in the Pan American Games. She still competes in the Master’s division.

In 2008, Maryanne won the Master’s Nationals and set the American record for the 5K RW.

In 2010, she was awarded the Mike Riban National Racewalking Award for Contribution and Dedication

In 2011 she placed third in a World Master’s 5000m RW competition.

In 2013, 2014 and 2017 won Master’s National titles in the 3000m RW

In 2016 was presented with the National Lori Maynard award for Excellence in Racewalk Officiating and Leadership.

In 2018 and 2019 set Masters records at 1500m and 3000m  RW Nationals

Honored with Mike Riban Award

I am back from the USA Track & Field national conference at Virginia Beach. It was wonderful to see old friends and make new ones. I was surprised and honored to receive the Mike Riban National Award for Contribution and Dedication: an honor I shared with my good friend Stella Cashman.
